the wedding date is….

July 24, 2007

Edy and his parents came to my house last night to meet my parents. Both set of our parents came to an agreement that the formal ‘lamaran’ (ting jing? or ting fen? I don’t know la… :D ) will be done next year, about a week before our wedding, due to ‘cultural reason’. Therefore, the event last night was the informal version of the ‘lamaran’. Basically, it’s all about Edy’s parents verbally asked my parents’ permission if I can be their daughter-in-law followed by a discussion about the wedding date.

I told everybody that I’d like to have a Fall wedding, preferably around October-early December (Winter is too cold, Spring is too wet, and Summer is too hot :P ). There is no way we can get married in 2007 so it should be in 2008. By the way, we also told our parents about the Buckeyes football schedule. It’s important! There’s no way we’ll have the wedding when there is a game in-town. After a thorough analysis (who knows there are so many factors to consider just to pick a date!), we all agree that the wedding ceremony and reception will be held here in Columbus on the 18th of October next year and another celebration of our wedding will follow on the 6th of December (1.5 months later) in Surabaya. By the way, the Buckeyes will play Trojan on the 18th at East Lansing, Michigan.

bali time!!

July 13, 2007

The photo shoots are scheduled on the 16th and 17th of July but we’ll go to Bali on the 15th to give us time to relax and will just go back to my lovely home on the 18th. I really have to credit my family and a special friend who arranged for all the logistics needs for this Bali trip while we were still in US. Thanks to them, all flight tickets are ready, the accomodations are set-up, and transportation needs are taken care of.

We met with the photographers a few days ago for the first time to discuss final details and that’s a pretty good meeting. We also met with our videographer thereafter and they just so nice to work with. We shared what we envisioned the clip to be and we had this wild ideas about something to do with ‘helicopter’. They liked the idea so much and fortunately for is, they know how to make it happen.

We received our photo shoots schedule today and just by looking at the schedule, I feel tired already. Well, the schedule is adjustable and I hope we’ll get so much fun that we don’t mind being tired. I’d better continue my packing now. I’m not done yet on choosing which clothes I want to wear for the photo shoots…oh, it’s so confusing. From our convo, the photographers told me that I’d better prepare 6-7 clothes (preferably matches with Edy’s) and I’d like to mix some casual clothes with dresses to give it varieties. I hope I’ll get it done soon so I can chill and relax before the craziness :).
