another video session
May 18, 2008
Yesterday we had another pre-wedding video session. We had our first video session at Bali last year but found that we missed something so we decided to have another one here. I also think since we’ll show the video in both countries, it’s going to be interesting to have videos taken in both Indonesia and US settings.
I started the day by getting my makeup and hair done at 6.45 AM in the morning. I found this makeup artist and hairstylist through some extensive searching (thanks to Google ^.^) and was really anxious how it works. Fortunately, it went really well. I told them what I like/don’t like and they translated my ideas perfectly. I like my makeup and the hair design.
Around 10AM, we went to this park at Dublin and ready to start the session. We’ve been really worried if it would rain but thanks to God, eventhough it’s a bit chilly and windy, it did not rain. However, I’m a bit sad that the strong wind kind of ‘messed up’ my hair a bit but that’s okay, still looks good ^^. Even, toward the end of our session, ‘Mr. Sun’ bravely showed its glory. At the end, we had so much fun and it went really well. We really want to extend our gratitude to Chandra who helped us out in this session.
my birthday
April 30, 2008
Well, let me recount what happened today. I spent almost the whole day in front of my computer (just started working again last Monday), went to cell group afterwards, and went to a friend place to surprise a friend’s birthday (and got surprised myself as well
). Nothing special today (except the surprised part) but Edy and I celebrated my birthday yesterday (pretended that we were in Indo and it’s already the 30th at that time
). We had a nice quiet mignon dinner and he gave me presents (2 items! (not flowers^^)) that I really, really like. It’s all just perfect for my birthday. Wow, time goes so fast that in 11 days, we will be engaged for a full year already.
bali time!!
July 13, 2007
The photo shoots are scheduled on the 16th and 17th of July but we’ll go to Bali on the 15th to give us time to relax and will just go back to my lovely home on the 18th. I really have to credit my family and a special friend who arranged for all the logistics needs for this Bali trip while we were still in US. Thanks to them, all flight tickets are ready, the accomodations are set-up, and transportation needs are taken care of.
We met with the photographers a few days ago for the first time to discuss final details and that’s a pretty good meeting. We also met with our videographer thereafter and they just so nice to work with. We shared what we envisioned the clip to be and we had this wild ideas about something to do with ‘helicopter’. They liked the idea so much and fortunately for is, they know how to make it happen.
We received our photo shoots schedule today and just by looking at the schedule, I feel tired already. Well, the schedule is adjustable and I hope we’ll get so much fun that we don’t mind being tired. I’d better continue my packing now. I’m not done yet on choosing which clothes I want to wear for the photo shoots…oh, it’s so confusing. From our convo, the photographers told me that I’d better prepare 6-7 clothes (preferably matches with Edy’s) and I’d like to mix some casual clothes with dresses to give it varieties. I hope I’ll get it done soon so I can chill and relax before the craziness :).
the engagement party
May 24, 2007
We had a great party last night. Great people and great food, what a combination. Despite the short notice, everyone was able to make it. Everyone was smiling widly, laughing crazily, and teasing each other mercilessly. It was such a joyous occasion that I would remember forever :-). Thanks guys for being able to celebrate with us.
We’d also like to thank our friends for giving us such wonderful engagement presents. We just sent out the invitation really late and you still manage the time to find those presents. Edy and I really grateful for having such loving and caring friends.
it’s here :)

The ring is finally done being resized! Tomorrow is our engagement celebration dinner and I’ve been anxious if the ring would be done on-time and it is! We decided to celebrate our engagement with our cell group (some kind of bible study) at a local Italian restaurant here. I think we did a good job surprising our friends. We just sent our invitation on last Sunday announcing our engagement and inviting them to celebrate with us. The last few months, our friends teased Edy mercilessly on when he’s going to propose me and now, we’ve been engaged for almost 10 days without any of them knows it :P. Sorry friends, but the most important thing, the news out and I know we’ll have a great celebration tomorrow.
the ring story
May 12, 2007
Today, we went to a jeweler to get my ring resized. Edy bought a size 6 but turns out that it should be a 5.5. What makes me a bit sad is that the store needs 10 days just to get the ring resized. We’ve done some research and it should take only about an hour to resize a ring. Well, I felt I made the wrong decision to resize it over there but it’s too late already. I’ll just wait patiently…
here it is…
May 11, 2007
Today is the most beautiful/amazing day in my life. I got double present for my birthday and both are really wonderful. The ring he gave me is exactly the ring I dreamed of (turns out that we have the same sense of style in this matter!) and it’s oh-so-beautiful. Coincidentally, my mom called me on the way back to Columbus (from Canton, the memorable place) and immediately I told her about the story. It turns out that my family (mom, dad, brother) already know about Edy’s plan (well, apparently he has to get permission from my family :> ) and they just refrain from telling me to make my day special. Oh, how sweet the whole things are…
Right after we are back in Columbus, we register the domain for our wedding. Since we can’t decide which one is better (we keep arguing whether it is ‘Arlene’ or ‘Edy’ that should be in the first place), we register both domain names: arleneandedy.com and edyandarlene.com. Both of them will point to the same page and we think it’s better that way. At the end of the day, we prayed to God that He’ll bless this engagement and that He’ll walk with us in every step we take in preparation for the wedding day.
I decided to keep a blog documenting anything regarding this wedding preparation. Edy and I think it would be cute for us to look back at this blog 10, 20, 30 years from now and remember these exciting & sweet moments.
