one more task done

February 21, 2008

I’m really excited with this wedding prep. There are so many new experience I’ve yet to see. I’ve met with a lot of people and learnt a lot about having a wedding in US and the wedding industry as a whole. In my spare time, I did some research here and found that the wedding industry is a couple billion dollar industries here. I’m interested in join in the crowd and start business (it’s a low entry barrier industry) in this industry but definitely not right now.

Anyway, I’ve met with couple florists around town. I’m really interested with this particular florist in downtown area but they do not have pictures to show to me. The store is cute and the flower arrangements they put in the store is very beautiful, like those kind of arrangements you’ll find in leading magazine. However, I’m just not comfortable by the fact that he has only a few of wedding arrangements pictures to show to me. Therefore, I decided to move on to other florist. We met with Michael, the owner of Cua florist and he treated us very well on our first consultation. We like his personality, his arrangements are beautiful, and his quote is reasonable so we decided to go ahead with his company. From this experience, I observed one important thing. It’s simple: Service is everything. We met with couple different florists but what sets them apart are the level of service they provided for customers (assuming other factors remain constant or at least comparable). This is an important notion to keep in mind if any of you (or us) want to start a business in US (or anywhere else in the world).

random thoughts

February 19, 2008

Suddenly, I remembered that I should have received my pre-wedding picture album by now. I’ve emailed my photographer at Indo but they said that they are overload and it’s not ready yet. I felt a little bit dissapointed since they promised that the album will be done in 6 months after the pictures taken. But, well, I’d rather wait than rushing them off which might reflect in the quality of work. I’m really excited to see how the final album will look like.

Speaking about the video clip, it’s also not done yet. I think the thousand miles distance between us do make a difference. Update is progressing slower and eventhough my EO gladly help me out, communication delay is inevitable. I kinda expect that this will happen so what I can do now is just being patient and not getting frustrated easily.

Here are some other update about the Indo party. About the cake, I’ve met someone last year while I’m at Indo but just decided to switch vendor. My mom showed me this vendor and after I looked at some of their works at weddingku.com, I felt that although both vendors have beautiful works, this new vendor’s works represent my style better than the other one. Invitation is another big headache, I can’t find an agreement on design between me and those in Indo. Need to be more patient. On the positive side, I just bought a magazine and found some new ideas for Indo party’s decoration. Pretty happy :).

valentine’s day

February 15, 2008

Happy Valentine’s Day! During our years together, this was the only time we didn’t celebrate it together. Edy had marvelous time having dinner with friends celebrating this Valentine’s day. How lucky of him while I’m stuck at class listening to marketing lecture. Hope that next year I won’t have any class on this day ^.^

the bridal party

February 11, 2008

Finally, I’ve made up my mind on the size of my bridal party and who I want to be in there. I’ve asked the girls and Edy also have asked the boys. It’s all set now. I’m glad that I started my wedding preparation way ahead so that I can take my time and didn’t feel burn-out. That’s smart of me! ^^

The next step is to order the dress I guess. I’ve found the dress at the same bridal salon where I purchased my gown. The design is simple, the color is pretty, and it’s the kind of dress that you can wear again. About the tux for the boys, no need to worry now. There’s still plenty of time.
