the engagement party
May 24, 2007
We had a great party last night. Great people and great food, what a combination. Despite the short notice, everyone was able to make it. Everyone was smiling widly, laughing crazily, and teasing each other mercilessly. It was such a joyous occasion that I would remember forever :-). Thanks guys for being able to celebrate with us.
We’d also like to thank our friends for giving us such wonderful engagement presents. We just sent out the invitation really late and you still manage the time to find those presents. Edy and I really grateful for having such loving and caring friends.
it’s here :)

The ring is finally done being resized! Tomorrow is our engagement celebration dinner and I’ve been anxious if the ring would be done on-time and it is! We decided to celebrate our engagement with our cell group (some kind of bible study) at a local Italian restaurant here. I think we did a good job surprising our friends. We just sent our invitation on last Sunday announcing our engagement and inviting them to celebrate with us. The last few months, our friends teased Edy mercilessly on when he’s going to propose me and now, we’ve been engaged for almost 10 days without any of them knows it :P. Sorry friends, but the most important thing, the news out and I know we’ll have a great celebration tomorrow.
the ring story
May 12, 2007
Today, we went to a jeweler to get my ring resized. Edy bought a size 6 but turns out that it should be a 5.5. What makes me a bit sad is that the store needs 10 days just to get the ring resized. We’ve done some research and it should take only about an hour to resize a ring. Well, I felt I made the wrong decision to resize it over there but it’s too late already. I’ll just wait patiently…
here it is…

Today is the most beautiful/amazing day in my life. I got double present for my birthday and both are really wonderful. The ring he gave me is exactly the ring I dreamed of (turns out that we have the same sense of style in this matter!) and it’s oh-so-beautiful. Coincidentally, my mom called me on the way back to Columbus (from Canton, the memorable place) and immediately I told her about the story. It turns out that my family (mom, dad, brother) already know about Edy’s plan (well, apparently he has to get permission from my family :> ) and they just refrain from telling me to make my day special. Oh, how sweet the whole things are…
Right after we are back in Columbus, we register the domain for our wedding. Since we can’t decide which one is better (we keep arguing whether it is ‘Arlene’ or ‘Edy’ that should be in the first place), we register both domain names: arleneandedy.com and edyandarlene.com. Both of them will point to the same page and we think it’s better that way. At the end of the day, we prayed to God that He’ll bless this engagement and that He’ll walk with us in every step we take in preparation for the wedding day.
I decided to keep a blog documenting anything regarding this wedding preparation. Edy and I think it would be cute for us to look back at this blog 10, 20, 30 years from now and remember these exciting & sweet moments.
